Three Months, too fast!

Three Months Old!
Well my sweet, tiny newborn is a giant infant now!  Well, not giant ... probably regular sized for 3 months, but time is flying!  We are trying to get out and do more things in the world so 5 1/2 year old Kai doesn't become a complete hermit!!  Everett has definitely had a more adventurous first 3 months of life than Kai did at his age, when I was new to all this and just stayed in and cuddled him all the time.  :-)

Everett is still sleeping about the same schedule as my 2-month check-in, falls asleep around 7 or 8 pm, even if we aren't ready for it!  He will usually sleep 3-4 hours before his first time waking, and he is changed and fed then back to sleep for another 3-4 shift of sleep.  I think that's pretty impressive for his age.  Mommy and Daddy are still struggling to find a sleep schedule that works for everyone, as neither adult seems to be getting enough sleep.

Everett is only formula fed, though he tasted an apple for a few minutes when mommy was cutting them up, he has no teeth yet but has been showing some signs of teething, so maybe soon!

He loves to smile and laugh, and be talked to and have faces made to him.  We show him many toys but he doesn't have very much interest in them, he likes to "chew" his bib and his muslin blankets.  Ever likes to play with blankets and pulls them over his head, which freaks out Daddy.

Everett seems like he will sit up on his own any minute now!  He can hold his head up very well and for a long time before tiring.  He always pushes his feet down and tries to stand up!  Ever is not going to be a complacent boy!  He wants to go go go!  He recently got a bouncy doorway seat where he can sit and dangle, bouncing himself from his feet on the floor.

Everett still loves baths and swimming, he kicks and splashes and laughs and makes a great mess!  We have moved from bathing him in his little tub in the kitchen sink, to in his little tub in the bathtub.  Sometimes Mommy, Kai and Ever all take a bath together in there, especially after swimming in the chlorine pool!  Usually he is very pooped and wants to nap afterwards.

He naps 2 or 3 times a day, depending on length.  Usually (if we are at home)  Mommy will put him in the crib in the nursery after he falls asleep and use the monitor.  He can sleep longer that way, because Kai is not very quiet and we don't want him to have to be!  His nap will usually be 40mins - 90mins so quite varied.  If Mommy gets the chance, she will lie snuggled with Ever while he naps, which makes him sleep much longer and Mommy can also nap, but Kai doesn't enjoy this because he hasn't napped in 4 years!

Well that's all I can think to update, we haven't had any health concerns or big trips or giant milestones this month, but he is on the verge of great things!  Teeth, sitting up, maybe standing!  Stay tuned.

Two Months Old!

I can't believe how time has flown by with baby Everett!

Last week we had his baptism at Vista United Methodist Church, by Pastor George Hooper.  In attendance were Gioi, Maggie and Kai... Aunt Tawni and Uncle Dave... Aunt Noelle... Uncle Tory and Cousin Katrina.... Grammy (Phoebe) and Grandpa (Edd).... and Grandma (Jackie) and Papa (Robert)  We were so excited to have such a great turnout!

Ever is smiling and laughing now, he is now 100% formula fed, since 5 weeks of age.  He had his first vaccinations at the Pediatrician (Dr. Lee) and handled it like a champ.  The next day he had a low fever and some soreness in his thighs, but had some baby tylenol and 2 long baths.

Ever loves taking a bath!  He kicks and splashes his hands and smiles and coo's!  He has had the opportunity to stay a couple nights at the Seapoint Resort, where he went in the swimming pool and Jacuzzi, which was actually his second time in a pool because he went in Grandma (Jackie)'s pool the week before that, at only 1 month old!  We also just got back from a short stay at the Palisades Resort, where his Godfather (Justin) and family are staying and he got to meet him for the first time, and take another Jacuzzi dip!  He also has been to Buccaneer beach once, but not in the water there.

If you are measuring by weeks, I think Everett is actually 11 weeks, but I think I have moved on to measuring by months already.  He loves his bouncy chair and always falls asleep in the car!  As far as health concerns, other than the fever after his shots, he has only had one diaper rash at about 3 weeks of age, lasting about a week and cleared up well with tons of Butt Paste and daily baths.

Those first outfits I had to put away because he grew out of them tugged at my heartstrings a little.  My little baby is already getting so big!  At the Pediatrician on June 22, he measured in the 70th percentile for weight 13lb 3oz, the 75th percentile for length 23 3/4 inches and the 20th percentile for head circumference 15 1/4 inches.

Everett seems to absolutely love his big brother, and the feeling is mutual.  Kai got the first smile from him, first (on purpose) kiss, and whenever he is around or talking Ever loves to look at him.  Ever seems to have worked out a schedule for himself, we have not been adhering to one purposefully at all, but at about 7 or 8pm, Everett is just DONE.  He will konk out no matter what's going on and be difficult to rouse.  He wakes every 2-3 hours hungry still, but doesn't really wake all the way and goes back to sleep pretty easily a few times until about 5 or 6 am when he's pretty awake and ready to play.  We have tried out a few different ways to balance the kids sleeping and the adults sleeping so everyone is getting enough and our current setup is that we all go to bed together at 8 or 9pm and the first time Ever wakes, Daddy takes him out and tends to his needs, then goes back to sleep with him in Kai's room while Mommy and Kai sleep on in the Master bedroom.  Then when Daddy needs to get ready for work in the morning, Mommy wakes and takes him  for the day.

Anyway, a lot to say but I haven't been checking in as much as I had planned to on this blog so there was a lot to catch up!
